IPL 2020: Anrich Nortje bowls the fastest-ever delivery in IPL
Delhi Capitals fast bowler Anrich Nortje managed a sensational feat in Delhi’s match against Rajasthan Royals on 14th October. The South African pace bowler delivered a ball that was recorded at 156.22 kmph. This is the fastest ball ever bowled in the history of the Indian Premier League. However, the bowler had no idea about the record.
Speaking to Shikhar Dhawan in a video posted by the official IPL handle, Nortje revealed, “I heard about it afterwards. I did not know about it at the time. I have been working really hard getting my pace right up there. Been working on my braced leg and my front arm.. simple stuff. Need the attitude to get some pace behind it but still need to get it in the right area.”

It was an interesting moment though as the fastest ball was hit for a boundary. RR opener Jos Buttler managed to scoop it through fine leg for his second successive boundary with the same shot. Nortje bowled him on the next delivery which was clocked at 155 kmph.
Nortje, the 26-year-old right-arm fast bowler, was not supposed to be playing for Delhi Capitals this year. He was brought in as a replacement for Chris Woakes as the England bowler withdrew his name from the season. Nortje has represented South Africa in 6 Tests, 7 ODIs and 3 T20Is and he has 35 wickets in international cricket.
