Starc to give the tournament a skip
Again conspicuous by his absence will be Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. Regarded as one of the best bowlers in the world in the shorter formats, Starc will skip the tournament in preparation of a busy summer ahead. He last featured in the tournament in 2015 playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. England skipper Joe Root has also decided to give the tournament a miss.
His pace partner Pat Cummins though has enrolled for the auctions and will be in the top-most bracket with a base price of 2 crores. Joining him in the top-tier are fellow Australians Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazlewood. Dale Steyn and Angelo Mathews complete the bracket of players priced at 2 crores.
Robin Uthappa, Chris Woakes, Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan headline a list of players who are priced a tier below at 1.5 crores. The other names in that bracket include Shaun Marsh, Kane Richardson, David Willey, Chris Morris and Kyle Abbot. Australian captain Aaron Finch will also return to the auction pool after skipping the last season.
The list will now further be cut down as the franchises decide upon their shortlist from the registered pool of players. The deadline to submit this shortlist will be on December 9.
