IPL 2020: 5 youngsters who can win emerging player award this season
The Indian Premier League, since its very inception, has been known for hosting some great young talents of the country. It is the league where a player steps up after having a decent domestic season and shows the class. There have been players who rose to fame after having a great IPL season and then went on to become a significant name of the Indian side.
Every year, IPL honours a player in the ‘emerging player’ category to laud the efforts of young talent. The IPL 2020 is also hosting some great budding talents, and they may definitely earn big names alongside the national team. 5. Sam Curran
The young man from CSK has a lot of potential. Having capacities with both bat and ball, he has been showing a decent form for his team. In IPL 2020 so far, he has clinched five wickets apart from scoring 36 runs. His big hits in the middle of the innings have the potential to turn the course of the game. His cameo of 18 runs against MI boosted the team’s performance, and he can be a good contestant for the emerging player award.
4. Ravi Bishnoi
The young spin sensation of Kings XI Punjab is shining well for his team. He made his debut in IPL 2020 and has scalped four wickets so far. Ahead of IPL, Bishnoi expressed his desire of making his season a successful one so as to get better chances ahead. He has been faring well and is expected to do better, especially under the guidance of his head coach Anil Kumble.
3. Devdutt Padikkal
The young batsman from Karnataka is marking his debut in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League. He has featured in three matches for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and looks impressive. Though he wasn’t able to get runs in his second outings, he has already scored a couple of half-centuries gathering a lot of appreciation. He can surely come out as an emerging player of the season.
2. Rahul Chahar
Rahul Chahar has been considered as a great bowling option for the Mumbai Indians for two years now. He has been a constant part of the Mumbai lot since last year, where he appeared in 13 matches, plucking as many wickets. In the 2020 edition also, he is looking in great form after picking four wickets in his three outings so far. He maintained a great economy last year and is expected to replicate the same this year. He can be one good option in the emerging player category.
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal
Jaiswal is another youngster who has been signed by Rajasthan Royals for his debut IPL season this year. He has some great records to his credit at the Ua19 level and bagged the IPL contract on the same basis. Though he has played only a single match in IPL 2020 and scored only six runs, he is expected to show some great form in the coming days.
