IPL 2019: Three talking points from DC vs CSK
Chennai Super Kings surged to their second successive win of the IPL by beating Delhi Capitals with six wickets remaining. Batting first at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, DC finished with only 147/6 runs. Watson’s 44 supported by CSK’s middle order, helped the side to comfortably pocket the win.
The match-up between North and South Indian team was not a thriller but it still provided a few talking points. Here are the three talking points from the 5th match of IPL 2019.
1. Only for the second time in the IPL
Yesterday was only the second instance of both the teams playing with lesser overseas cricketers than the allowed limit. Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals both took the field with only three foreign players in their playing XI. While CSK had opted for three overseas players in the first match as well, Delhi Capitals dropped Trent Boult to include Amit Mishra.
2. The Mumbai duel
A fun aspect of the IPL is pitting the Indian domestic teammates against each other. Prithvi Shaw opened the batting for Delhi Capitals and Shardul Thakur streamed in to bowl the second over for Chennai Super Kings.
3. Delhi ke munde take on Shane Watson
Pakistan’s Wahab Riaz had unleashed fury on Shane Watson in an encounter during the 2015 World Cup. Kagiso Rabada’s fiery spell to the CSK opener yesterday reminded of that battle. The South African was bowling with the speed in high 140s and kept Watson on his toes. Even Ishant Sharma had a go at the Australian batsman and other players had to intervene.
