Indian cricket team stranded in England till World Cup final
In what will pile even further misery on the Indian cricket team after their semi-final exit, reports have suggested that the team has been left stranded in England till at least July 14. The reason for the team not flying out of Manchester till the day of the World Cup final is due to the lack of availability of return tickets.
A source close to the BCCI told The Quint:
“Most of the boys will be in Manchester till July 14 and leave from there. Tickets are being booked after the campaign came to an end yesterday.”
In another report in PTI, a BCCI official was quoted as saying:
“The players will start leaving in batches and groups to their preferred destination as per availability of tickets.”
After touching down back in India, most of the players will not get to enjoy a prolonged vacation as the preparations for the tour of the West Indies will get underway. India will tour the Caribbean from August 3 and will conclude on September 3. The tour will consist of 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches.
