India vs New Zealand: 3rd T20I Venue stats
Destructive middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav kept his cool with his innings of 26* off 31 as team India prevailed in the second T20 international at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Hardik Pandya and his side chased down the target of 100 in the final over to seal the deal by a margin of six wickets and level the series 1-1. The third and the decider encounter now takes place on Wednesday, February 01, 2023, at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Speaking of the Lucknow T20I, it was a ‘shocker of a wicket’ by Pandya’s assessment as batters from both the sides struggled aplenty on the slow and sluggish red-soil surface. In the aftermath of the criticism, the curator of the stadium has been sacked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In the game the batting first Blackcaps managed a paltry 99/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, the hosts also struggled against the spin bowling of the visitors as they too found life tough on a rank turner. As many as 30 overs were bowled by the spinners, the most in a match amongst the full members.
Though, both teams are now focused on sealing the series 2-1 by winning the Ahmedabad T20I. Talking about the venue, the first game here took place between arch-rivals India and Pakistan way back in 2012, when the Men in Blue emerged victorious by 11 runs.
India hosted England for a five-match T20I series at the same ground in March 2021 when the home side grabbed the series 3-2 after winning the decider fifth encounter. Nearly after two years, the world’s largest stadium is all set to stage another crunch game and series decider.
