India name 17-member squad for 2022 Under-19 World Cup
The All-India Junior Selection Committee, on December 19 (Sunday), named 17-member India squad for the Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be played in West Indies from January 14 to February 5. The 14th edition of the tournament will see 16 teams divided into four groups, battling over 48 fixtures across 10 venues in Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana, St Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago.
India, who have won four titles hitherto in 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018, will be led by Yash Dhull, with SK Rasheed as his deputy, while the selectors have also named five standby players. India, placed in Group B, start their campaign on 15th January against South Africa in Guyana’s Providence Stadium before taking on Ireland and Uganda – both in Trinidad and Tobago – on January 19 and 22, respectively.

Group A comprises defending champions Bangladesh alongside England, Canada and UAE; Group C includes Afghanistan, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea and Zimbabwe, whereas Group D has Australia, Scotland and Sri Lanka slotted alongside hosts West Indies.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super League stage, while the teams finishing at the third and fourth spot will enter a Plate playoff, The Group stages will run from January 14 to 22, followed by quarter-finals from January 26 to 29 and semi-finals on February 1 and 2. The final clash is set to be played on February 5 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua and Barbuda.
The teams will play a total of 16 warm-up games between January 9 and 12 in St Kitts and Nevis and Guyana.
