The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian women’s squad for the upcoming limited overs series against England starting September 10. The Indian eves are scheduled to play three T20Is and as many One Day Internationals.
Harmanpreet Kaur will be leading the side with the likes of Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Taniya Bhatia, Renuka Singh Thakur, etc. consisting of a strong batting and bowling order. Kiran Navgire has earned her maiden international call-up while Jhulan Goswami and Jemimah Rodrigues have returned to the ODI squad. The Indian eves will be oozing with confidence after their hard-fought victory over England in the semifinals of the Commonwealth Games 2022 cricket tournament earlier this month.
The first T20I between England and India will be played at Riverside, Durham, on September 10, followed by the the next two games at The Incora County Ground, Derby, and the Bristol County Ground September 13 and 15 respectively. As far as the ODI series is concerned, the opening encounter will be played at the 1st Central County Ground, Hove, on September 18, while the next two matches will be contested at Canterbury and Lord’s on the September 21 and 24 respectively.
The T20Is will be a preparation for both teams for next year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa. Moreover, this will be an important series for England, who failed to finish on the podium despite being the CWG 2022 hosts. Indian eves, on the other hand, will be confident after their performance at the CWG 2022 and a win against Sri Lanka away from home before that.
