India beat West Indies by 96 runs in the third and final ODI at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to register a whitewash. The series also marked Rohit Sharma’s stint as the Indian team’s full-time ODI skipper. The just-concluded One Day series witnessed a few exceptional performances from players of both sides. Five players from India vs West Indies ODI series
Deepak Hooda: Deepak Hooda might have just scored 55 runs from two outings but those were handy middle-order contributions that helped the hosts bag the series. The Rohtak cricketer also managed to pick up a wicket in the West Indies series.
Shreyas Iyer: Shreyas Iyer mattered when it mattered the most scoring a match-winning 80 in the final One Day. He made the most of his opportunities after having recovered from COVID-19. The middle-order batter helped India post a stiff total of 265.
Odean Smith: Odean Smith proved that he is the next big thing in both West Indies and world cricket as he showcased his power-hitting abilities as a tail-ender in India series. He finished the series with 60 runs and three scalps.
Suryakumar Yadav: Suryakumar Yadav might have failed in the final game scoring just six runs but he did succeed in adding impetus to India’s middle-order in the first two games that helped them seal the series. Yadav finished the series with 104 runs including a match-winning 64 in the second ODI.
Prasidh Krishna: Prasidh Krishna made a tremendous impact with the ball in hand in the three-match One International series and provided breakthroughs for the Men In Blue regularly when the situation demanded. The Karnataka pacer bagged nine scalps from three matches including a fifer in the second ODI and was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament.
