IND vs WI: KL Rahul and Axar Patel ruled out of T20I series
India suffered a major blow ahead of their three-match T20I series against the West Indies after KL Rahul and Axar Patel were ruled out of the entire series. Rahul will not take part in the series after he sustained a hamstring strain while he was fielding during the 2nd ODI match between the two sides.
On the other hand, Axar Patel has been ruled out of the T20I series as he is still under rehabilitation and is recovering from Covid-19. Right-handed batter Ruturaj Gaikwad and all-rounder Deepak Hooda have now joined the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series.
Both Rahul and Patel will now go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to recover from their sustained injuries.
India have bossed over the West Indies in the ODI series
The T20I series between India and the West Indies will commence on 16th February 2022. The 2nd and 3rd matches of the series will be played on 18th and 20th February 2022 respectively. All the matches will take place at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.
And, ahead of the T20I series, India and West Indies are involved in a three-match ODI series, which the hosts are currently leading 2-0. In both ODIs, the ‘Men in Maroon’ were completely outplayed, as the Rohit Sharma-led outfit has already pocketed the series. While India thrashed the West Indies in the 1st ODI by 6 wickets, they beat the ‘Men in Maroon’ in the 2nd match by 44 runs to prove superior to their opponents in every department of the game.
