IND vs WI: 5 Players to watch out for in T20I series

The three-match ODI series is done and dusted where India whitewashed West Indies 3-0 to continue their domination over the Caribbean side. The action now moves on to the three-match T20I series which will be hosted at Eden Gardens in Kolkata from February 16, 2022.

Let’s see who are the 5 Players to watch out for in Ind vs WI T20I series

  1. Ishan Kishan

Fresh from bagging a deal worth 15.25 crores from MI in the mega auction 2022, Kishan would like to prove his worth by giving those explosive starts to India in the T20Is. He became the second most expensive Indian in the IPL auction history after Yuvraj Singh. He did play the first ODI where he scored 28 but was benched again in the next matches for returning KL Rahul. Now with Rahul ruled out of the T20Is, he may again get the opportunity to open.

2. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has the most hundreds (4) in the T20I format with one coming against West Indies in India in 2018. He was the leading run-scorer in India’s previous T20 series against the Kiwis in November 2021 where he amassed 159 runs including two fifties. The third-highest run-getter overall in T20Is with 3197 runs, he has also the most T20I runs by an Indian against the Caribbean team (519).

3. Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel was India’s pacer with the most wickets in the New Zealand series in November where he made his debut. He snared four wickets in two games at an average of 12.75. He won the Player of the Match award on his debut for his spell of 2/25. The highest wicket-taker of IPL 2021, Harshal also got snapped up by his RCB franchise for 10.25 crores in the mega auction. His slower ones and bowling in the death would help India in restricting the big-hitting Caribbean batters.

4. Jason Holder

Jason Holder took 15 wickets in five T20Is against England at home in January and was also declared the Player of the Series. He snared five wickets in three ODIs against India but West Indies lost 0-3 . One of the best all-rounders in world cricket right now, Holder also scored a half-century in the ODI series against India. In the mega auction, the new Lucknow franchise bought him for 8.75 crores.

5. Rovman Powell

Rovman Powell struck a century in the T20I series against England and became the third West Indian batter to smash a ton in T20Is. He was the second-highest run-scorer in the series with 147 runs in three matches with an average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 193.42. Powell scored 107 runs in 53 balls with ten sixes in the third T20I as he would be the one player to watch out for in the India series.
