IND vs SL: Top 5 performers from T20I Series
Extending their sensational run in the shortest international format, Team India whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in the recently-concluded T20I series. This is now India’s third whitewash triumph in T20Is since their early exit in the T20 World Cup 2021.
The hosts hardly faced any trouble as Sri Lanka endured a horrendous campaign. Although the Lankan Lions did look competitive at times, Rohit Sharma’s men won all three games pretty comfortably. Notably, this series had a greater significance with the T20 World Cup 2022 being less than eight months away.
Meanwhile, let’s look at the top five performers from the T20I series:
5. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Having been short of performances lately, the right-arm pacer had a point to prove in this series and he did a commendable job. Bhuvneshwar got the new ball to swing and he troubled Sri Lankan batters in death overs as well. The veteran pacer played two matches in the series and scalped three wickets.
4. Lahiru Kumara
Team India lost a total of nine wickets in the entire series and five of them belong to Lahiru Kumara. The right-arm speedster was mighty impressive with the new ball as his pace and swing troubled the Indian batters. Although he was taken to cleaners in death overs, the team management would be pretty pleased with his performance.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
Making a comeback from injury, Ravindra Jadeja unleashed his A-game during the series. The southpaw, who was promoted up the order, gave a really hard time to Sri Lankan bowlers. If that’s not enough, the left-arm spinner also contained the run-flow alongside taking regular wickets. Coming to his numbers, Jadeja slammed 70 runs alongside taking a couple of wickets.
4. Dasun Shanaka
The Sri Lankan skipper was at his best in the series as he made his bat talk. Coming to bat lower down the order, the dasher played a couple of magnificent innings, taking the Indian bowlers by storm. The right-arm pacer also chipped in with handy overs. Overall, he scored 124 with his strike rate being close to 200. He also took a solitary wicket.
- Shreyas Iyer
With Virat Kohli being unavailable, Shreyas Iyer got to bat at number three and he made optimum utilization of the opportunity. The dasher made a mockery of Sri Lankan bowlers and slammed unbeaten half-centuries in all three games. As far as his numbers are concerned, the 27-year-old slammed 204 runs at a strike rate of 174.36.
