With the T20I series done and dusted, Team India and Sri Lanka will now go head-to-head in a two-match Test series starting from March 4. The series will start from Mohali with the second match to be played in Bangalore. Both squads have some talented players and it will be interesting to see how the series pans out. Here are five players to watch out for India vs Sri Lanka Test series

5. Angelo Mathews

Sri Lanka batting middle-order will be playing around the veteran batter Angelo Mathews and it will his responsibility to stich some vital partnerships with his fellow batters to post a good total for the visitors. Known to play spin well, Mathews has played 92 Test matches and amassed 6338 runs at an average of 44.63.

After piling up 204 runs in just three innings and winning the player of the series award in the recently conducted T20Is against Sri Lanka. Indian batter Shreyas Iyer will be looking to emulate his recent form in the Test series as well. The 27-year-old recently made his Test debut against New Zealand and scored a century in the very first match he played. He also became the second Indian batter after Gundappa Viswanath to score a Test hundred on debut.

3. Dimuth Karunaratne

A lot will depend on the Sri Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne as his side will take on mighty Indians that too at their home turf. Karunaratne has been an integral part of the Sri Lanka Test squad for quite a long time and will have the added responsibility to provide a good start for his team. The left-handed batter has scored 5454 runs in 74 Test matches he has played for his country and averaging almost 40 in every inning.

2.Virat Kohli

Not in his absolute best Indian stalwart Virat Kohli scored his last century in Test format in November 2019. Kohli will be playing his 100th match in the longest format of the game while playing against Sri Lanka in the first match. The batter and his fans will be praying that the hundred drought ends in the first match. Kohli has a total of 7962 runs in the format with 28 fifties and 27 centuries under his name as well.

1. Rohit Sharma

Skipper, Rohit Sharma will have a lot to prove with both bat and as a captain in the longest format of the game. The 34-year-old batter has played 43 matches in the format scoring 3047 runs with an average of 46.88. The batter has 14 half-centuries, eight hundreds and a double-hundred under his belt as well.
