IND vs NZ: India announce T20I squad for New Zealand series, Rohit Sharma named captain
The BCCI has announced a 16-man squad of India for the three-match T20I series against New Zealand. Rohit Sharma has been named as the new captain with Virat Kohli relinquishing his captaincy duties. KL Rahul has been appointed as the vice-captain in the 20-over format.
From the T20 World Cup squad, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Chahar have been rested. The squad includes the top Indian performers from the 2nd leg of the IPL 2021 as Ruturaj Gaikwad, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel and Venkatesh Iyer get a chance to showcase their talent. Gaikwad had earlier made his India debut in Sri Lanka.
The three-match T20I series begins on 17th November in Jaipur. The second match will be played in Ranchi on 19th November and the series shall come to an end in Kolkata on 21st November.
