IND vs ENG : Kohli hands over the trophy to Ishan and Suryakumar after series win
India started the five-match T20I series with a crushing eight-wicket defeat to England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, with their backs pushed to the walls, Virat Kohli and Co came back with three wins in their next four matches.
In the fifth and final game on Saturday, the Men in Blue put their best foot forward and clinched the series 3-2. After being put in to bat first, India posted 224 runs on the board. Skipper Kohli top-scored with an unbeaten 52-ball 80 with seven fours and two sixes.
Rohit Sharma’s 34-ball 64 coupled with quick-fire 30s from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya also helped the cause. In the run-chase, Jos Buttler’s 52 and Dawid Malan’s 68 kept the Three Lions in the hunt for some time.
But once they perished, the visitors lost all the momentum and lost by 36 runs. In the meantime, Kohli came up with a heartfelt gesture after the game. During the photo session with the trophy, Virat handed the cup to the youngsters.

Virat Kohli impressed with the youngsters
Virat reckons that the T20I team looks settled due to their strong middle-order. He also lauded Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar, who both made their international debuts in the series. Kohli also had words of praises for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who became the Player of the Match after his spell of 4-0-15-2 in the series decider.
“Even with so much dew coming in, like last game we’ve defended the total again. Despite Rishabh and Iyer not getting a chance we put on 225. Today Rohit and me were both positive in our intent. And then Surya coming in at three and taking the game even further away. I am going to open in the IPL as well,” Virat said after the game.
“Have batted in different positions in the past. But I feel we have a solid middle-order now. Will definitely like to partner Rohit at the top. Other guys feel a lot more confident when one of us is still in and is set. Also how Shreyas batted in the last game and the responsibility he showed in the first game.
“Ishan was brilliant. I was particularly pleased with Surya. Bhuvi coming back and bowling like that. Pant showed a lot of maturity through the series as well,” he added.
