IND vs ENG: England team arrives in Chennai; Sundar Pichai welcomes them

England cricket team recently won their second consecutive Test series in Sri Lanka. After winning the highly-anticipated Test series in the Island nation, the team under the leadership of Joe Root have now stepped foot in India to play a four-Test match series. The team arrived in Chennai on Wednesday where the first two Test matches will be played.

Joe Root and his team landed in the city and were escorted to the hotel where they are going to stay during the course of this series. Some sources have also revealed that some members of the Indian team have also arrived in the city on Wednesday. England flew in from Sri Lanka at 10:30 AM.

According to the reports published on the Indian Express, both the Indian and England team will be staying in a secured bio bubble in the Hotel Leela Palace. The England players will be doing their mandatory six-day quarantine in the hotel before moving. Star players Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer had arrived in Chennai on Sunday from England as they had not travelled to Sri Lanka.

The reports also seem to suggest that Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah arrived on Wednesday morning while Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma had reached Chennai on Tuesday night. Captain Virat Kohli is expected to arrive on Wednesday itself.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai welcomes the England team

As the England players arrived, the England and Wales Cricket Board updated all the fans with a video on Twitter. The tweet informed that the players have arrived safely in the southern city. Somehow, the tweet came to the attention of Google and Alphabet CEO, Sundar Pichai. He replied to the tweet welcoming the English team and expressed his disappointment for not being in the city for the matches.
