Only the second Indian fast bowler to play 100 Tests
While India are enjoying a tremendously talented crop of pace bowlers, it wasn’t the case a few years ago. Apart from the likes of Kapil Dev and Javagal Srinath, India rarely had the services of a fast bowler who was fit and consistent. In fact, before Ishant, Kapil Dev was the only Indian fast bowler to have played in 100 Test matches. Ishant now becomes the second pace bowler from the country to achieve this milestone. Taking away the bowling style, overall, he is in the fourth position after Anil Kumble (132 Tests), Dev (131 Tests) and Harbhajan Singh (103 Tests).
Amongst the legends
James Anderson (159 Tests), Stuart Broad (146), Courtney Walsh (132), Kapil Dev (131), Glenn McGrath (124), Chaminda Vaas (111), Shaun Pollock (108), Wasim Akram (104) and Ian Botham (102) are the fast bowlers/bowling all-rounders who have played more than 100 Tests. On the basis of his sheer determination and will power, Ishant has joined this list of legends. It is an astounding feat for Ishant and one to be immensely proud of.
Take a bow, @ImIshant ?
Becomes only the 2nd Indian pacer after Kapil Dev to play 100 Tests for India.
