IND vs ENG: 3rd ODI – Sam Curran’s record, India’s home dominance and more numbers
India have clinched the ODI series against England by winning the last game by 7 runs. The hosts have dominated the whole tour winning the series in each of the three formats. The visiting side won the toss in the third ODI and decided to field first. India posted a total of 329 runs in the first innings with the help of fifties from Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya.
In response to this total, England fought well but lost the nail-biter in the end. They managed to score 322/9 in 50 overs with the help of a magnificent knock from Sam Curran. Shardul Thakur and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were the most successful bowlers for India picking up 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Sam Curran was adjudged as the player of the match for his wonderful knock.

This was the 17th time they stitched a century partnership in ODIs and surpassed Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist (16) to attain the second spot among opening pairs. Only Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar are ahead of the Rohit-Dhawan pair in this regard with 21 hundred partnerships between them.
6 – For the sixth consecutive ODI, India were successful in scoring 300+ runs in their innings. This is the first time such record has been made by the Indian team in their ODI history.
200 – Virat Kohli featured in his 200th game as Indian captain, and became the third Indian to achieve the landmark. Only MS Dhoni (332) and Mohammad Azharuddin (221) are ahead in the record tally.

128 – This was Virat’s 128th win as an Indian captain, and he equalled Stephen Fleming in this regard to attain the joint-fifth spot in the list.
9 – Moeen Ali dismissed Virat Kohli for the ninth time in international cricket. He joined Adil Rashid to become a joint top spinner to take Kohli’s wicket most times.
95* – Sam Curran played a fighting knock of 95 runs off 83 balls but failed to take his team to a victory. His score is the joint-highest for a number 8 batsman in an ODI game. Before him, Chris Woakes also scored 95 runs in this position against Sri Lanka in 2016.
70 – A total of 70 sixes were hit in this ODI series by both teams. This is the most number of maximums smashed in a 3-match ODI series.
28 – Rishabh Pant has so far hit 28 sixes this year across formats. He is at the top position in this regard followed by Martin Guptill (22) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (20).
