Team News
India:
Indian captain Virat Kohli faced a lot of heat for ignoring Kuldeep Yadav for the first Test. The management chose to play Shahbaz Nadeem, the left-arm spinner, and the off-spin duo of Washington Sundar and R Ashwin. In keeping with the explanation provided by Kohli in the post-match press conference, Kuldeep is likely to miss out in the second Test. Axar Patel, who was the first choice for the first Test but ruled out due to an injury, is likely to get the nod. This remains the only talking point in India’s selection, the other 10 players are unlikely to be dropped.
England:
England have announced their 12-man squad for the second Test and it has taken everyone by surprise. Jofra Archer was ruled out yesterday and thus England had to make one forced change. But they have gone ahead in making as many as four changes. From the first Test, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, James Anderson and Dom Bess shall be missing. They will be replaced by Ben Foakes, Olly Stone, Stuart Broad and Moeen Ali.
