IND vs AUS: 4th Test venue stats

Spinner Nathan Lyon wreaked havoc as he picked up figures of 11/99 to help Australia in bouncing back from two back-to-back defeats and winning the third Test at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is now nicely poised as the action now moves to the fourth and final match beginning March 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Speaking in detail about the Indore game, skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. Virat Kohli top-scored with his knock of 22 with the rest of the Indian batting line-up failing miserably. Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon picked up five and three wickets respectively as the hosts got bundled out for just 109.

In reply, Usman Khawaja smashed 60 as the visitors reached a total of 197. Ravindra Jadeja took four while R Ashwin and Umesh Yadav snared three scalps each. Cheteshwar Pujara led the fight for his side as he made 59 but he failed to get support from the other players as the home side could only manage 163 in their second innings.

Lyon was the chief destroyer as he got eight wickets for 64 runs to restrict the hosts under the 180-run mark. The tourists reached the target comfortably to set up for an exciting finish in Ahmedabad.

Speaking about the venue, the first Test took place between India and West Indies way back in the year 1983. England was the last team to visit here when they took the Asian giants in March 2021.

India have a good record at the stadium as they have played 14 Tests with six victories, two losses, and six draws. Their only two losses came against the Caribbean side in the first-ever game as mentioned above in 1983 and against South Africa in 2008.

Spinner Axar Patel enjoyed a fruitful debut series against England in 2021 when he picked up 20 wickets in just two encounters in Ahmedabad. The Aussies will be playing for the first time here while India’s last three games have all come against England, which they have won.
