ICC fines Archer, Roy for breaching ‘Code of Conduct’

As if losing to Pakistan wasn’t enough, hosts England have been further jolted by the ICC. Two of their players, Jason Roy and Jofra Archer have been fined 15% of their match fees for breaching ICC’s Code of Conduct.

Jason Roy was obviously having a hard time in June 3rd’s match against Pakistan at Trent Bridge. The opener first dropped a regulation high catch when Pakistan were batting. In the 14th over, Roy was heard spouting audible obscenities after a misfield that led to him breaching Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. Roy has also been hit with a demerit point.

England’s frustration in the field was evident in their bowlers’ body language. In the 27th over, the umpire adjudged a wide delivery off Archer’s bowling. The fast bowler was clearly not impressed and showed considerable dissent towards the umpire’s decision. Archer breached Article 2.8 of the same conduct and was also given a demerit point.

Meanwhile, Pakistan were also found guilty of a slow over-rate offence. Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been fined 20% of his match fees, while the rest of team has been fined 10% for the same.
