After a terrible run in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, three-time champions Chennai Super Kings signed off in style by winning their last three games. CSK registered a 9-wicket win over KXIP in their last game, knocking KXIP out of the race as well.

With MS Dhoni retiring from international cricket in August 2020 and CSK’s poor performance in this IPL, many felt that this could be the last time MS will don the Yellow jersey. However, resting all speculations, Dhoni cleared that he would be seen flaunting the yellow jersey again next year.

While speaking to Danny Morrison during toss time, the former Indian captain said “Definitely Not”, with his convincing smile after being asked if this was his last game for CSK. Dhoni’s response was a big relief for all the Thala fans and left them smiling.

ICC ecstatic with MS Dhoni not leaving IPL

Expressing their happiness over this big announcement by Dhoni, the official Twitter handle of the International Cricket Council (ICC) wrote,

After being invited to bat first, KXIP struggled while posting a below-par score of 153 on the board. The opening duo of Mayank and KL Rahul added 26 and 29 runs respectively from their end. However, the Punjab batters had an ordinary day as they kept losing their wickets at regular intervals. In this tough scenario, Deepak Hooda showed great character as he smashed 62 unbeaten off 30 deliveries.

Lungi Ngidi shone with the ball for Yellow Army as he took three wickets while Imran Tahir, Rajasthan Jadeja and Shardul Thakur had one each to their name. It was a no-show run chase in Abu Dhabi as the Super Kings easily chased the target with 7 balls to spare on the back of a scintillating 62* off 49 balls by Ruturaj Gaikwad. Faf du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu also made notable contributions by adding 48 and 30* runs respectively. The only wicket lost by CSK came under the belt of Chris Jordan.
