ICC announces nominees for Men’s T20I Player of the Year 2021

So, the nominees for the ICC T20I cricketer of the year have been released by the International Cricket Council (ICC). And, the 4 men who have been shortlisted are England cricketer Jos Buttler, Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, Aussie batter Mitchell Marsh and Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.

Jos Buttler had a stellar run with the willow this year in T20I cricket. The right-hander scored a staggering 589 runs in T20I cricket this year and scored his runs at a superb average of 65.44. Buttler also plundered 269 runs in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup and scored them at an average of 89.67 and a strike rate of 151.12.

Mohammad Rizwan was the leading run-getter in T20Is in 2021

Mohammad Rizwan had a dream run with the willow in T20I cricket this year. The right-hander scored a staggering 1326 runs for the Pakistan side this year and plundered his runs at a colossal average of 73.66.

Even in the 2021 T20 World Cup, Rizwan amassed 281 runs at an average of 70.25 and played a key role in helping the ‘Men in Green’ reach the semifinals of the competition.

Mitchell Marsh won the Player of the Match award in the final of the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup and played a key role in helping the Aussies lift their maiden T20 World Cup crown.

Marsh scored a 50-ball 77* with the willow in the summit clash of the mega event against New Zealand and paved the way for an Australian win. Marsh was outstanding with the willow this year and scored 627 runs in T20I cricket at an average of over 35.

Sri Lankan Wanindu Hasaranga is the leading wicket-taker in T20I cricket this year and has scalped 36 batters in 2021 at a superb average of just 11.63. He also leaked runs at an excellent economy rate of 5.44.
