I used to follow Rahul Dravid and Saeed Anwar’s batting: Shakib Al Hasan
The Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has opened up on who he has been looking up to and has been following in the cricketing circuit. Shakib is renowned as one of the best all-rounders and has won many matches for his team from crunch moments by displaying his sheer flair with both the bat and the ball.
The former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has been instrumental in grooming the young talents in the country. He is considered one of the best batters in the red-ball format owing to his defence and techniques. Shakib thus stated that he used to follow Dravid and also revealed a few other names that he looked up to.
”I used to follow Rahul Dravid’s batting alongside Saeed Anwar’s batting. As for bowling, it was Harbhajan Singh and Saqlain Mushtaq,” Shakib Al Hasan said in a candid video posted by Sportskeeda on YouTube
Virat shows the fighting spirit and attitude on the ground: Shakib Al Hasan
Virat Kohli is often praised for the passion and aggression he brings on the 22 yards. Shakib also heaped praises on the Indian captain as he highlighted his attitude on the field. The Bangladesh cricketer feels that there is a lot to learn from Kohli and stated that he never gives up until the game is over.
“Virat shows fighting spirit and attitude on the ground, his attitude reflects never say die spirit which I like. He never gives up until a game is over,” Shakib added.
Shakib Al Hasan also spoke about his experiences of playing in the Indian Premier League. He has been a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders camp for a long time and has won the IPL title twice with KKR under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Shakib also featured for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.
“Manoj Tiwary used to be a very good friend and so was Ryan Ten Doeschate. From the current batch, I have good relations with Sheldon Jackson and Harbhajan Singh,” he said.
Shakib is all raring for the second leg of the IPL which is set to start in the UAE on September 19. Kolkata Knight Riders will resume their campaign against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on September 20.
