I sleep a lot but UK is one place where I can get up at 5.30-6 am: Smriti Mandhana
Indian Women’s team has a busy cricket calendar as they will be up against England’s Women team in all three formats of the game. The Women’s team will play their first Test match in seven years as they will be up against the English team in a lone Test match from June 16 to June 19 at the County Ground in Bristol.
After the Test match, India will square off against England for three One Day Internationals followed by three T20 Internationals. For the same, India’s Women’s team traveled with the Men’s team to the United Kingdom (UK) on June 3. India’s ace batter Smriti Mandhana is quite excited about the England tour.
The 24-year-old also revealed an interesting thing regarding her travel to England. Smriti said that she likes sleeping a lot and can sleep anywhere anytime. However, England is the only palace where she gets up early in the morning. Explaining the reason behind the same, the left-hander reckoned that England is behind Indian time and thus she is able to follow a proper sleeping pattern.
“I sleep a lot everywhere. The UK is very good because it is behind [the Indian time] and that really suits me because then I can sleep early and then I am up at 5.30-6 am. That is the only country where I can get up at 5.30-6 am,” she told teammate Jemima Rodrigues in a video posted on bcci.tv.
Really excited to go out with this bunch of girls: Smriti Mandhana
Further in the interaction, the 24-year-old exclaimed that she is quite happy to tour with the Indian team after a long time. India’s Women’s team last traveled to play the T20 World Cup in March last year. Though they resumed international cricket with a home series against South Africa, this will be their first overseas tour after the halt due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking about the same, Smriti said that she is quite excited to tour with the girls after a long time. “I think it is quite exciting because we are touring with the Indian team after a long time. We have had tours individually for T20 leagues but really excited to go out with this bunch of girls,” added 24-year-old Smriti.
