I hope to keep doing well under Rohit bhaiya‘s captaincy: Yuzvendra Chahal
India’s star leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal went through some tough times in his career after being ignored for the T20 WC 2021 which was held in the UAE. As he shined for India for a long time in T20Is, his exclusion came as a surprise to all, and then he went on to have a fine IPL season too.
However, Chahal now wishes to move forward and do well in the upcoming games rather than dwelling on the past. He added that he is aiming to shine in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and push Haryana to a title. Opening up on his tough phase during the T20 WC snub, the leggie stated that the support from his loved ones kept him moving.
“It was disappointing to lose a spot in the Indian team for a mega-event like the World Cup. I think I did reasonably well in the IPL and in the series against Sri Lanka. But that’s part of a sportsperson’s life. I was eyeing the World Cup since the time it was postponed. Nevertheless, I got great support from my family to overcome that disappointment. It was wonderful to get into the India dressing room against New Zealand,” said Chahal while speaking to HT.
Rahul Dravid is a great coach with an intelligent cricket mind: Yuzvendra Chahal
The Haryana spinner came back to the international circuit with the New Zealand T20Is which took place last month. It is known for all now that T20I captaincy is now with ace batter Rohit Sharma and Chahal stated that he wishes to do well under Sharma’s captaincy after flaunting class under former T20I skipper Virat Kohli.
“I have done well under Virat bhaiya and hope to keep doing well under Rohit bhaiya‘s captaincy in the T20 format. I have played with Rahul Dravid as a coach while being in the India A team. He is a great coach with an intelligent cricket mind. Then there is Paras Mhambrey also now as bowling coach. I held discussions with him on my bowling. His inputs would definitely benefit me,” concluded Chahal.
