I am enjoying GT captaincy, always wanted to have responsibility as a cricketer: Hardik Pandya
Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya revealed that he is delighted to be the leader and has relished taking over responsibilities for his side so far. The results are evident in the way Hardik has led his troops, as the franchise is yet to be beaten so far, winning all their three games. Hardik has been quite impressive with both bat and ball in IPL 2022, and the fact that he is fit and ready again, brings a huge sigh of relief for the Indian team selectors as well.
Apart from playing at number four for his franchise, Hardik has also shown his ability to take the new ball and has been hitting the early 140 kmph speeds as well. The 28-year-old has bowled in different phases of the game, including the death overs, and is a gun fielder anywhere on the ground. The Baroda lad has been spot on with his bowling changes and field settings, and it will be interesting to see if he can continue the good work on a longer basis.
Facing challenges makes you better: Hardik Pandya
Pandya revealed that he has relished the challenges of being a leader for the first time and added how he has been able to improve himself with the new role. He also noted that he has been trying to stay calm and composed, and revealed the team motto of celebrating losses that would enhance the bonding within the Gujarat Titans franchise.
“I am enjoying captaincy, always wanted to have responsibility as a cricketer and that is the reason I have become a better cricketer, because facing challenges makes you better. I have been on both side(s) before – I have won and lost – so I’m cool and composed because I try to stay neutral. That’s our team motto as well, win or lose we are neutral, we celebrate our losses also, they are very important as it gives the wins more value,” Hardik told at the post-match presentation.
