2. Faoud Bacchus, 250, 6th Test, Kanpur, February 1979
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, India posted a massive first innings score of 644/7. The West Indies’ fightback was led by Faoud Bacchus, who played a scintillating knock of 250 with the help of 33 fours as they reached 452/8 in the first innings and managed to draw the game. The draw meant that India won the six-match series by 1-0.
1. Rohan Kanhai, 256, 3rd Test, Eden Gardens, December 31, 1958 – January 04, 1959
West Indies captain Gerry Alexander won the toss and elected to bat first as Kanhai walked in early to the crease with his side on 12/1. From there on, there was no stopping the batting maestro as he scored 256, smashing 42 fours in his innings to help his side post 614/5 in the first innings. West Indies went on to win the game by an innings and 336 runs as Indian batting faltered for 124 and 154 in two innings. The Windies went on to win the series 3-0.
