Hardik Pandya undergoes lower back surgery in London
India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has successfully undergone a lower-back surgery in the UK, the cricketer confirmed on Saturday. Having been troubled by the injury since a while, Pandya was excluded from the ongoing Test series against South Africa.
The 25-year-old was part of the Indian team that played the 2019 World Cup. He even played the first two T20Is in Mohali and Bangalore. However, an assessment post the Bangalore match revealed that the all-rounder had to undergo surgery of the lower back. Hardik will be out of action for a while and the date of his return isn’t certain yet.

Hardik first sustained in the injury in the 2018 Asia Cup encounter against Pakistan, where he fell at the crease. He was then carried off the field on a stretcher and has been managing the injury since then. The Indian management did not risk him on the tour of the West Indies, resting him for the complete series. Pandya also complained of lower back stiffness earlier this year and didn’t feature in the limited-overs series against Australia either.
