Hardik Pandya promises to resume all-rounder duties ahead of T20 World Cup
Mumbai Indians have had a disappointing run in this year’s IPL so far. All-rounder Hardik Pandya’s form has also been a worry not just for MI but for team India as well. However, ahead of the match against Delhi Capitals, Pandya gave a positive reply when asked when will he bowl again.
Speaking to the broadcasters, he said that he is working hard on his bowling and is hopeful that he will take the charge of the ball soon. The former India cricketer and broadcaster Deep Dasgupta asked Pandya about his bowling plans. Answering the question, the all-rounder said, “I will bowl soon. Putting in my best efforts.”
The all-rounder seemed to have got back to his rhythm as he looked in good touch against Punjab Kings in the last match. He played an impressive knock of unbeaten 40 runs which included as many as two sixes and four fours and sailed the team past the total.
Opening up on his innings, he asserted that scoring runs were important for his confidence. Mumbai Indians have been in a spot of bother this year and every match is important for them. However, they have been in such a situation in the past and Pandya thus stated such crunch moments give an opportunity to give one’s best.
“Runs are important and especially when your team wins. Those runs were important for my personal confidence as well but to score for the team was important.
Now we don’t have any other option (on a must-win situation for Mumbai Indians in IPL). But it gives you an opportunity to give your best. It brings out the best in you. Obviously, we know it’s do-or-die but we are focusing on one game at a time and only the controllable,” Pandya said.
