Harbhajan Singh talks of two youngsters ‘hard to ignore’ in T20 World Cup 2021
India got off to a bright start against Sri Lanka by winning the first of the three-match ODI series by seven wickets without even breaking a sweat. The chief architects of India’s victory were Ishan Kishan and Prithvi Shaw. The pair showed no fear and went about their business as if they were playing the 100th ODI.
If the southpaw scored an enterprising half-century on his ODI debut, then Shaw too set the tone for India at the top by scoring a brisk 43. Cricketer-turned-expert Harbhajan Singh was impressed by the duo’s batting and feels they should be included in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup squad.
Earlier, Rahul Dravid the head coach during the tour spoke about giving chances to the fringe players ahead of the global event. With the dynamic duo performing well, the former India off-spinner feels the youngsters should be in the squad on basis of their good performances in recent times.
Harbhajan also feels X factors players like Shaw and Kishan help the team win the World Cup due to their ability to change the game quickly.
“You can judge a player on his performances. The way Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan have batted in an international game shows how capable they are and it will be difficult to ignore them for the T20 World Cup. If you want to win the World Cup you need players like them. They don’t see who is bowling in the opposition. They just back their natural game,” Harbhajan said to Yahoo Cricket.
Harbhajan Singh feels Suryakumar Yadav has sealed his spot for the T20 World Cup
Apart from Kishan and Shaw, the 41-year-old also feels Suryakumar Yadav has sealed his place in the T20 World Cup squad, as he too has delivered the good for the team, in so far short career for the Men in Blue.
“They should not be ignored based on their performances. Even if selectors have to replace a senior player, they should go ahead and do it. I also feel Suryakumar Yadav has sealed his place for the T20 World Cup. He not only plays an attacking brand of cricket but is also capable of preserving his wicket and scoring quickly at the same time.”
