Harbhajan Singh refrains from predicting result of India-Pakistan T20 WC 2022 clash
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has refrained from making a prediction before the high-voltage contest between India and Pakistan to be played in the 2022 T20 World Cup. To note, the Men in Blue will start their World Cup campaign against arch-rivals as both teams will face each other at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23.
The last time the two teams met, it was the Men in Green who came on top during the 2021 T20 World Cup. The former spinner Harbhajan had then said that Pakistan should give a walkover to the Men in Blue as they had never managed to beat them in the World Cup (50 and 20-overs both).
“I told Shoaib Akhtar that there’s no sense in Pakistan participating; you should give us a walkover. You’ll play, you’ll lose again, and you’ll be upset. Our squad is extremely solid, very powerful, and they will easily beat you guys,” Harbhajan had said before the India and Pakistan clash in 2021. After team India received a ten-wicket loss against Pakistan, Harbhajan was trolled by the netizens for being overconfident.
‘We will see what is going to happen’ – Harbhajan Singh on upcoming India vs Pakistan match
“We have another T20 World Cup, and this year, I won’t be giving any statement and won’t talk over who will win [between Pakistan and India]. Mauka Mauka or whatever, we will see what is going to happen as last time around things went bad due to this,” he told to Akhtar in a conversation. The former Pakistan speedster also advised the Harbhajan to not make any predictions about the match.
Both India and Pakistan were recently involved in playing the limited-over matches. While Pakistan hosted West Indies, team India took on South Africa in a five-match T20I series at home. As the World Cup inches closer, both the teams will be looking to find their best playing XI before the start of the all-important tournament.
