Harbhajan Singh opts out of IPL 2020 owing to personal reasons
Chennai Super Kings have a received another massive blow to their IPL 2020 campaign with Harbhajan Singh following Suresh Raina’s footsteps. The off-spinner has added his name to the list of prominent cricketers to opt-out of this year’s IPL. Earlier, Raina, Lasith Malinga and Kane Richardson had announced their decision of not playing in the T20 tournament this year.
Dear Friends
I will not be playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are difficult times and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family. @ChennaiIPL CSK management has been extremely supportive and I wish them a great IPL

In his 160 IPL appearances, Harbhajan has claimed 150 wickets. After representing Mumbai Indians for 10 years, the 40-year old turned out for MS Dhoni’s side and has been a vital cog in their plans. The offspinner’s mother being unwell is thought to be the primary reason. Due to this, he had not travelled with the team to the UAE as well. Now he will be missing the entire season.

Harbhajan’s absence will increase the worries of CSK setup. On the slow and low pitches of the UAE, Harbhajan’s experience would have been a key factor in their campaign. CSK as a team relies heavily on their spinners. With the off-spinner not being available, the Yellow Army will have to find a fresh solution for their increasing problems.
