GT vs MI Review – Gujarat stun Mumbai with a 55-run victory

The Indian Premier League 2023 treated fans with another mouth-watering encounter as Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians went up against each other in Match 35 on Tuesday, April 25. MI Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited GT to bat first at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

The decision proved to be correct as Arjun Tendulkar dismissed GT opener Wriddhiman Saha early in the innings. Spinners also chipped in with the wickets in the middle overs and GT were 101/4 after 12.2 overs. However, a 71-run stand off just 35 balls between David Miller (46 off 22) and Abhinav Manohar (42 off 21) helped their side get back in the game. Rahul Tewatia once again finished the innings in an emphatic fashion (20* off 5) and helped GT post a massive score of 207/6 in the first innings.

In reply, MI’s chase got off to a miserable start as they lost their captain Rohit Sharma in the second over itself. Ishan Kishan also perished in the eighth over as he couldn’t get his innings going. Following his dismissal, MI suffered a collapse and went from 43/2 to 59/5 in the space of 19 balls.

Nehal Wadhera tried his best to save his side from a massive defeat with his knock of 40 off 21 balls but MI could only reach 152/9 in the second innings, handing a 55-run victory to Gujarat.
