Grant Elliott in awe of Rachin Ravindra’s unplayable delivery
Bangladesh are certainly the team to beat on current form. In the last 11 T20Is, they have won an astonishing 10 games and look as menacing as ever. The latest team to face the wrath of the Tigers are New Zealand. NZ are currently playing a five-match T20I series and have lost both their games. During the first T20I, the Blackcaps were shot out for just 60 and could not possibly have any answers to the home team’s potent spin attack.
Although New Zealand were without a few of their star players, they are certainly not short of firepower as they have Tom Latham, Henry Nicholas, and Colin de Grandhomme in their ranks. But the visitors could not quite get their act together and lost the plot miserably. None of the batters could breach the 20-run mark and, the famed spin choke was yet again visible by the Bangladeshi bowling attack.
With the top eight New Zealand players missing the series due to the second half of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) beginning on September 19 in the UAE, a relatively second-string team has travelled to Bangladesh. Among the several newcomers in the New Zealand team, off-spinner Rachin Ravindra has got his opportunity. The 21-year-old rose among the ranks after performing well in the domestic circuit.
Rachin Ravindra’s unplayable ball leaves Mahmudullah stunned
Although Bangladesh cruised to a 61-run target, they did face some hiccups in the lowish run-chase. The home side lot three quick wickets before all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan played sensible innings of 25 runs. In pursuit of wickets, Latham turned to Ravindra, and the all-rounder almost got the wicket of Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah.
Former New Zealand all-rounder Grant Elliot shared the video of Ravindra’s unplayable delivery, which took a sharp turn after pitching. It was a perfect start to a new batter Mahmudullah, who had just walked in. Somehow the batter pulled his bat off at the very last second and opted to let the ball go by to the wicketkeeper, who almost took the ball at his head height. Elliott was mighty impressed by the young off-spinner’s delivery and made sure to share it on his official Twitter account.
Never easy in Bangladesh! Watching the @BLACKCAPS batters struggling in foreign conditions. How’s this for a delivery though? #turnandbounce pic.twitter.com/DbXFykjzlV
