Glenn Maxwell teases Virat Kohli over his run-out against CSK
Royal Challengers Bangalore brought an end to their three-match losing streak on Wednesday (May 4) with a 13-run triumph over defending champions Chennai Super Kings. The players were pleased with the outcome as the atmosphere in the dressing room was electrifying after the game. In a video shared by RCB’s official YouTube page, several players can be seen giving their take on the ‘crucial’ win.
Glenn Maxwell and Virat Kohli were captured in the screen together and they got engaged in friendly banter. Maxwell teased the former RCB skipper over his run-out from the game, jokingly saying he won’t bat with the right-handed batter anymore. For the unversed, the Aussie dasher went back for a run-a-ball three as he couldn’t complete a quick run while responding to Kohli’s call.
‘You get ones and twos, I don’t’ – Glenn Maxwell to Virat Kohli
“I just can’t bat with you. You run too fast, you run too fast. You get ones and twos, I don’t,” Maxwell said in the clip shared by RCB. Notably, it was Kohli who started the banter as he greeted the Australian all-rounder as the “greatest injured player in the history of the game.” The former Indian captain apparently lauded Maxwell for delivering a match-winning spell despite carrying a niggle.
Maxwell dismissed dangerous batters Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu and gave away just 22 runs in his quota of four overs. “That was a good win, so important (in the context of IPL 2022 playoff race). The greatest injured player in the history of the game (laughs). 2/22 in four overs,” Kohli said.
Meanwhile, RCB Director of Cricket Mike Hesson also lavished massive praises on Maxwell for taking two big wickets and pushing CSK on the back foot. “He was exceptional, obviously, he got a bit of a niggle. But we knew how important he was not just to the left-handers but also to getting hit to the big side by the right-handers. He has got good control of length, that’s important,” stated Hesson.
