Fractured finger rules Ben Stokes out of action for up to 12 weeks
It was only announced a few days back that Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ben Stokes has been reportedly ruled out of IPL 2021 due to an injury. In the latest turn of events, a clear update has been made on Stokes by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Stokes would be out of action for up to 12 weeks after scans showed a fracture in his left index finger. The all-rounder is all set to leave for England on April 17 for his further treatment.
Stokes sustained the injury while he was up in Rajasthan Royal’s opening game against Punjab Kings. As per the scans, the extent of injury states that he will be out of the field for some part of English summer too, and will have to undergo surgery to fix his finger. Stokes was a vital part of the Royals’ setup and was hailed as one of the best overseas players in their squad.
Ben Stokes to miss considerable part of English summer
Talking about England summer, they are all set to host New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan in the same order in the upcoming months. And, as per the injury, Stokes will at least miss the first two assignments with his national team. Talking about his IPL franchise, it will be a thing to see how will they fill the void created by the star player.
RR played their opening game against PBKS and lost it by a close margin. Though Stokes failed to perform with the bat totally, it was their skipper Sanju Samson who owned the night. He tried to pull the game single-handedly and brought up his scintillating ton in between to keep RR’s hopes alive. Though RR lost their first game, they won the 2nd one in utmost style against Delhi Capitals.
This time around, it was David Miller and Chris Morris who starred for RR. Jos Buttler is another star English player in their artillery who is expected to fetch some good runs for the team in matches coming up.
