Four cricketers who might not play T20I cricket again

T20 cricket is a format where the players don’t have the time to settle down and have to think rapidly for almost every single delivery. Players who are consistent in other formats like ODIs and Tests will find it a bit difficult to have the same consistency in the shortest format of the game. In accordance with the same, most of the players’ performance goes down which results in a downfall of form. With the increase in competition and other players in line to get an exposure to international cricket. Sometimes it’s also the lack of importance towards the fitness that makes the players get sidelined from the playing XI.

Here are the four cricketers who might not play T20I cricket again:

4. Dale Steyn:

Steyn

Dale Steyn came into the South African side as a bowler who wore aggression and fierce nature right up his sleeve. He was the pillar in most of the South African victories across formats. Coming to the shortest format of the game, Steyn, once upon a time, used to send shivers down the batsmen’s spine. But as his career proceeded, he couldn’t trouble the batsman the way he used to in the initial part of his career. In his T20I career, he has 64 wickets to his name from 47 matches at a brilliant economy of 6.95 and best figures of 4/9. He played his first game back in 2007 against the Kiwis and probably we won’t see the champion bowler don the T20I Proteas jersey ever again.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin:

In 2010, backed and hailed due to his performances in the IPL, Ravichandran Ashwin got an opportunity to prove his mettle in the international arena for the shortest format of the game against Zimbabwe in their own backyard. Since then Ashwin hasn’t looked back and he was the mainstay of the Indian bowling line up across formats until 2017. But as they say, the purple patch isn’t forever and with the Indian budding cricketers, especially spinners, knocking the selectors’ door every now and then, a dip in form from Ashwin resulted in his downfall. In his T20I career, he has 52 wickets in 46 matches with the best figures of 4/8. With spinners and spinning all-rounders having a cut-throat competition, we might not witness Ravi Ashwin in the T20I Indian squad again.

2. Alex Hales:

Hales

The tall lanky English batsman came to the limelight back in 2011, where he made his T20I debut against India at Old Trafford. Alex Hales can be considered as a batsman who had a bright future and a career well-paced. But it was affected due to the controversies. On most of the occasions, he was directly or indirectly involved in those controversies. In his career, he has mustered 1644 runs in 60 innings which includes a century as well. England have the right set of batsmen at the moment who suit the current style of cricket they are playing and Alex Hales, having lost his spot from the England Cricket team, might not be considered for the shortest format ever again.

1. Chris Lynn:

A hard-hitting and well-built batsman from Queensland, Australia played the T20I format for the first time in 2014 against England. Lynn is an explosive batsman who has been successful in providing flying starts but hasn’t been able to convert the starts into big innings. He has been backed every time but Lynn hasn’t performed on the highest stage. In 16 innings, he has scored 291 runs without a single fifty or a hundred to boast about. With David Warner, Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short getting among the runs, it’s fair enough to say that we might not see the explosive batsman in the upcoming T20I fixtures of Australia.
