Former BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhary passes away
The veteran cricket administrator and the former secretary of the BCCI, Amitabh Choudhary passed away in the early hours of Tuesday (16th of August). Choudhary played a huge part in developing the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) and was instrumental in making Ranchi, the capital of all cricketing activities.
JSCA confirmed the news of Amitabh Choudhary’s demise and ever since that, the fans have poured their respect and admiration for the veteran.
Contribution of Amitabh Choudhary to Indian cricket
The 58-year-old did not have a very comfortable job during his time with the BCCI. Choudhary was the team manager on India’s tour to Zimbabwe in the 2005-06 season when Sourav Ganguly and Greg Chappell’s saga began in Indian cricket.
Later when he was working under the CoA in the BCCI, he encountered another coach versus captain saga. He was a part of the Virat Kohli versus Anil Kumble segment in Indian cricket. Thus, one can never say that Amitabh Choudhary had it easy in the BCCI as it was tough to deal with two of the biggest administrative challenges of the Indian board in the recent past.
The former IPS officer also played a massive role in building a world-class stadium at Ranchi. After the completion of the stadium, JSCA decided to mark one end of the stadium after his name for all his contributions to developing the game in the state.
