Flatter wickets suit me, I do not like turning wickets: Varun Chakravarthy
The match between RCB and KKR got owned by Kolkata bowlers as they displayed some top-notch action to wrap up Bangalore on just 92 runs. While Virat Kohli and his men suffered ab absolute batting collapse, there is no taking away from KKR bowlers who bowled brilliantly. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy was declared as the player of the match as he returned with the surreal figures of 3/13.
Andre Russell also picked three wickets and it turned out to be another nightmarish total for t RCB. In the same light, Chakravarthy opened up on his bowling action and added that he prefers bowling on the flat surface rather than turning wickets as it suits him more. He added that Chennai doesn’t suit him due to the same reason but the ground at Abu Dhabi goes his way.
“I do not know, but I am starting to like this ground at Abu Dhabi a lot. It is just fun bowling here, it is a good challenge. Flatter wickets suit me, I do not like turning wickets, I like flat wickets as it suits me more. Because my style of bowling, turning wickets do not suit me much, like Chennai doesn’t suit me much but flatter surfaces do suit me more,” he said to Russell in a video posted on iplt20.com
Varun Chakravarthy opens up on his low-profile celebration
Further, Chakravarthy also opened up on his calm and composed attitude in the match. It is being noticed often that he doesn’t celebrate his wickets in all enthusiasm and vigour like other bowlers. On being asked about the same, he said he doesn’t like to deviate his focus and if too much attention goes into celebrating, maybe, he will go out of his process.
“It is just I do not want to get out of my process, if I celebrate too much I might end up forgetting what I need to do the next, so that is why I do not celebrate much but later on, I do celebrate,” he added.
KKR won the same game by nine wickets against RCB.
