West Indies are touring India for a limited-overs series consisting of three ODIs and as many T20I games. The visitors lost the first ODI on 6th February 2022. In the 21st century, both these sides have produced some spine-tingling action on the field in ODI cricket. 5. West Indies vs India (2017)

In this pulsating clash that took place on 2nd July 2017 in Antigua, the West Indies batted first and posted a total of 189 on the board, with Evin Lewis and Kyle Hope scoring 35 each. In reply, even though Ajinkya Rahane and MS Dhoni scored half-centuries, the other Indian batters failed to step up, and India fell short of the target by 11 runs. Jason Holder won the Player of the Match award for scalping 5 wickets in the match.

4. India vs West Indies (2005)

In this contest which took place in August 2005, the Indian side batted first and posted a competitive total of 262/4 on the board. Yuvraj Singh scored a magnificent 110 and in reply, the West Indies kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but Runako Morton and Denesh Ramdin kept the fight going by slamming half-centuries. However, the ‘Men in Maroon’ fell short of the target by seven runs.

The clash in Jamaica on 20th May 2006 was a nail-biting one as West Indies batted first and scored 198/9, with Ramnaresh Sarwan scoring a magnificent 138-ball 98*. In reply, Yuvraj Singh scored a fighting 93 for his side, but none of the other Indian batters could cross the 30-run mark and the ‘Men in Blue’ fell short of the target by a slender margin of one run.

On 29th November 2011, India held their nerve to beat the West Indies with just one wicket in hand. The ‘Men in Maroon’ batted first and scored 211/9, with Darren Bravo slamming 60. In reply, India were reduced to 59/5, and it looked as if the ‘Men in Blue’ will go down meekly. However, Rohit Sharma stepped up for his side and scored a composed 99-ball 72 to help India past the finish line in a tense run chase

1. India vs West Indies (2018)

India and the West Indies were involved in a high scoring tie on 24th October 2018 at Vishakapatnam. The hosts batted first and scored 321/6, with batting maestro Virat Kohli scoring a scintillating 157* off 129 deliveries.

In reply, it was Shai Hope who led West Indies’ charge with the willow. The right-hander scored a superb 134-ball 123*, and with the West Indies needing just five runs for victory off the final delivery, Hope slammed a four as the match ended in a tie. Kohli won the Player of the Match award for his superb knock.
