Indian skipper Virat Kohli will be honoured by his home association of DDCA. One of the stands at the iconic Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium will be named after the Indian cricketer. The 30-year old becomes the youngest cricketer to achieve such an accomplishment.

The news was tweeted out by the official DDCA Twitter account:

DDCA Chairman Rajat Sharma said in a statement:

“Virat Kohli’s outstanding contribution to world cricket has done DDCA proud. We are happy to honour him for achieving certain milestones and unbeatable captaincy record. To cherish these memories, DDCA wanted to dedicate a stand in his name. I am sure the ‘Virat Kohli Stand’ will be a source of inspiration for Delhi’s young cricketers. We are also delighted that Team India is not only led by a Delhi player but it also has an opening batsman (Shikhar Dhawan), a wicket-keeper (Rishabh Pant) and a lead bowler (Ishant Sharma).”

Other legends of Indian cricket already have stands named after them at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. Bishan Singh Bedi and Mohinder Amarnath are two of the legends bestowed with such an honour.

Kohli is currently busy leading India on their tour of West Indies. Kohli was brilliant in the ODI series, with his back-to-back centuries helping India to a 2-0 series victory. The first Test of the two-match series will begin on 22nd August in Antigua.
