Fastest centuries for Bangladesh in ODIs
Bangladesh veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim slammed a majestic ton against Ireland in the three-match ODI series. In doing so, the batter scaled an impressive milestone as got the fastest century in the contest in ODIs for Bangladesh. In addition to this, the batter surpassed star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s long-standing record. 3. Shakib Al Hasan | 68 balls
Bangladesh hosted Zimbabwe in a five-match ODI series in 2009. In the second ODI match in Mirpur, the Bangla Tigers chased down Zimbabwe’s 219 runs in mere 29.3 over (with 123 balls remaining) courtesy of a dominating knock by Shakib Al Hasan. The southpaw slammed as many as 14 boundaries and three maximums to get his ton. He registered one of the fastest hundreds (68 balls) scored by a Bangladesh cricketer. He remained unbeaten throughout the chase with a score of 105 runs off 69 balls.
2. Shakib Al Hasan | 63 balls
In the same year in 2009, Shakib had already registered the then-fastest ton by a Bangla cricketer in ODIs against the very same opponents, Zimbabwe. However, he blasted it in just 63 balls in Bulawayo to help the side get to a mammoth total. He was adjudged Player of the match for 104 off 64 and 2/39 with the ball. His innings included nine boundaries and four maximums, at a strike rate of 162.50, which helped Bangladesh win the contest.
1. Mushfiqur Rahim | 60 balls
In the second of the three-match ODI series against Ireland in 2023, Mushfiqur Rahim scored the fastest century ever recorded by a Bangladesh player. Mushfiqur took the Irish side by storm as he registered his ton in just 60 balls, surpassing Shakib’s record. However, the match was eventually washed out.
