Face to face: Ajinkya Rahane converses with BeYouNick-fame Nikunj Lotia
In midst of the IPL 2019, the beard trend adopted by Rajasthan Royals cricketers gave rise to a lot of confusion amongst their fans. In the team photos, Ajinkya Rahane, Jaydev Unadkat and Dhawal Kulkarni all looked alike. All three bearded cricketers will be playing for different IPL teams this year. Another name was added to this list due to his resemblance with Rahane. It is Nikunj Lotia, the YouTube star who owns the channel ‘Be YouNick’. Both Rahane and Nikunj have come together in a special collaboration in their latest social media post.

The similarities between Rahane and Nikunj go deeper. Both lived in the suburb of Dombivali at some stage of their lives. The Indian Test vice-captain spent his childhood in the suburb and took his early lessons in cricket there. He would travel to the maidans in South Mumbai via local trains. Nikunj also launched his YouTube channel from Dombivali and many of his videos are themed around the suburb.
During this fun video call between the two, the duo of Rahane and Nikunj comes face to face. While ‘Rahane’ (acted by Nikunj) turns down an offer to become a brand ambassador of a famous brand, ‘Nikunj’ (acted by Rahane) passes up an opportunity in Hollywood in order to visit Dombivali. The duo concludes their conversation with a promise of meeting in Dombivali.
Rahane will be turning out for Delhi Capitals in the 2020 IPL season. He has previously represented Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. The stylish batsman has scored 3,820 runs in the T20 tournament with two centuries in his account. He has reached the UAE for the upcoming season and is currently serving a quarantine period in isolation. This will be Rahane’s first appearance for Delhi Capitals.
