Fabulous Four and their best and worst oppositions in international cricket
Players do find their strengths in a certain opposition which could see them to success and also weakness which could see them failing repeatedly. The well-acknowledged fab four batsmen in international cricket are no different from it. However, their struggles might not look as poor as in general due to their excellence against all quality bowling. Here are the best and worst oppositions of the current Fab four in cricket:
Virat Kohli:
Sri Lanka – Best
Sri Lanka is Virat Kohli’s best opposition in International cricket as he scored 3563 runs in only 63 matches at an average of 65.98. Kohli struck 13 hundreds against them including back to back double centuries. Virat has scored over 4000 runs with 15 tons against the Aussies but his average against Lankans is quite high.

England – Worst
England is probably Kohli’s toughest opposition despite scoring over 3000 runs in International cricket against. Virat scored 3094 runs against the English team from 61 matches at an average of 44.84 with eight hundreds. Kohli has played five or more Internationals against nine teams but England is the only opponent against which he did not average 50+.
Steve Smith:
India – Best
Steve Smith has always enjoyed batting against India and it is not a wonder that India is Smith’s best opposition in International cricket. The Australian batsman has scored 2658 runs at an average of 66.45 against India in 37 matches with as many as 12 hundreds including seven of them in Test cricket.

South Africa – Worst
South Africa has been tough on Smith as the top-order batsman scored 1497 runs in 38 International games at an average of only 39.39 with help of three centuries; none of them being more than 108.
Kane Williamson:
Sri Lanka – Best
Sri Lanka is Williamson’s favourite opposition in International cricket as he 1000+ runs at 50+ average only against the Lankans. Kane aggregated 1808 runs against Sri Lanka from 36 matches at an average of 50.22. He has scored four tons against them including an unbeaten 242 and also scored 13 fifties; all across 40 innings.
Australia – Worst
Just like many other New Zealand players, Williamson has struggled against the Australian team. He has scored only 1216 runs from 27 matches at an average of 36.84 with only three tons and four fifties across 36 innings.
Joe Root:
West Indies – Best

Joe Root has enjoyed great success against West Indies as he smashed seven centuries including four in ODIs from only 34 International matches. Overall, Root scored 1915 runs against the Caribbean team at an average of 56.32.
Australia – Worst
Australia has always been a troublesome opponent for Joe Root as he hasn’t been able to pile runs on a consistent basis against them. Despite playing 58 International games against the Aussies, Root has managed to hit only three tons. Across 80 innings, Root scored only 2535 runs against Australia at an average of 36.21.
