Every player in the team is ready for a last-minute call-up :Umesh Yadav
The five-match Test series between England and India will get underway finally, after so much build up, on August 4. The cricket experts and fans across the world will have their eyes on this series with two heavyweights locking horns to kick start the second edition of the World Test Championship. Team India has faced adversities in the form of injuries ahead of the series opener but they are ready to face England according to pacer Umesh Yadav.
The pace bowler is confident that India will beat England, though it will be a close contest over the course of five matches. Yadav is not in the discussion at the moment in terms of making it to the playing XI at least for the first Test. The likes of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are ahead of him in the pecking order.
However, the Vidarbha fast bowler is excited and wants to contribute to the team during the series. He has stated that every player in India’s squad is ready to play if the need arises at the last moment.
“As a team, we are growing together. Some years back, there was a lot of chopping and changing that happened. Now, everything is in place. Thanks to our captain and coach, the team has been settled now.
“We have players who have played almost 50 plus Tests. We have a mature and well-balanced side. We all know what we have to do. Every player in the team is ready for a last-minute call up and is confident of performing,” Umesh said while speaking to Times of India.
Umesh Yadav confident of India winning the series
Umesh Yadav understands England will come hard at India having lost the previous series during the winter 3-1. However, he stresses that the visitors have plans for them and is confident of beating them in this series. “I am confident that we will defeat them. It will be close fight in England. I am really excited and looking forward to taking as many English wickets as possible. We also have our plans for them,” he added.
