England name 16-man squad for T20I series against the West Indies

The England side will take on the West Indies outfit in a five-match T20I series in the Caribbean. This series will commence on 22nd January 2022. And, the England side has named its squad for the five-match rubber against the ‘Men in Maroon’.

Former England cricketer Paul Collingwood will serve as the head coach of the England side for this series, with Marcus Trescothick acting as the assistant coach. Eoin Morgan will lead the side.

And, Collingwood opened up on the England squad that has been selected for the series against the West Indies. He said that a strong squad has been picked for the tour, and the squad was picked keeping in mind the 2022 T20 World Cup that will be held in Australia.

“We have selected a strong squad with some serious batting power and a balanced attack as we begin preparations ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia. The World Cup is less than a year away and there will be increased opportunities for the squad in the absence of those players who are with the Ashes squad,” said Paul Collingwood according to a Press Release.

Paul Collingwood further added that he has fond memories of touring the West Indies as England won the T20 World Cup in the year 2009 in Barbados. Collingwood concluded by stating that the West Indies side will test the England cricket team in the T20I series between the two sides.

“I have good memories winning a World Cup in Barbados and I’m really looking forward to going back there with this squad to face a very good West Indies who will test all aspects of our skills,” concluded Collingwood.
