ENG vs PAK: 2nd Test – Captains agree on draw, England keep series lead
After rain and bad light dominated proceedings for the most part, the second Test between England and Pakistan finally ended in a draw at Southampton. The entire Test match witnessed less than 150 overs bowled over the course of five days.
England went to stumps on Day 4 at 7/1, having lost opener Rory Burns towards the end of the day. As was the case on Day 4, the final day was also threatened by a persistent rain delaying the start of England’s 1st innings. Lunch was taken early followed by tea, after which both teams stepped out for the final session on Day 5.

Dominic Sibley and Zak Crawley kept the scoreboard ticking, with the latter bringing up a patient yet impressive half-century. The Pakistani bowlers kept looking for a breakthrough for 30 overs after Burns’ dismissal. And when they got one, two more followed in quick succession. Crawley (53) was the first one to fall, trapped by Mohammad Abbas plumb in front.
Two overs later, Sibley (32) followed suit and was caught behind off Abbas’ bowling. Yasir Shah then came around, ending Ollie Pope’s short stay at the crease. England declared at 110/4 amidst bright sunshine with captain Joe Root (9*) and Jos Buttler (0*) at the crease.
The sun shines after a frustrating week here in Southampton.
We take a 1-0 lead into the final Test of the summer ????????
