ENG vs IND: Pitch invader Jarvo banned for life from Headingley on account of security breach

Prankster pitch intruder Daniel Jarvis aka Jarvo 69 has been banned for life for a security breach during the Headingley Test between England and India, the English county sources informed on Saturday.

Notably, Headingley’s intrusion was Jarvo’s second after he did the same during the two team’s fixtures at Lord’s in the current series. Sporting an Indian jersey with ‘Jarvo 69’ imprinted behind, he started giving instructions to the fielders upon entering inside at Lord’s, while during the ongoing third Test, he entered and went as far as the pitch, taking a guard after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal.

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club has taken the matter seriously and has levelled charges of breaching security on him. “Yes, Daniel Jarvis will be banned from Headingley for life. We will also be imposing a financial penalty,” a Yorkshire CCC spokesperson was quoted as saying by News18.com.

When quested about what measures would be adopted going forward to ensure that such incidents are not repeated, the spokesperson said: “As on previous days, there will be stewards present around there to stop anyone that attempts to get on.”

Jarvo has admitted earlier about being a famous prankster. In a recent interaction with Indian Sports Fan he also revealed that he was he is now a full-time professional prankster. He is also behind the wildly popular “Bad Grandpa” character and counts beating British pinup Tom Daley for the Olympic Diving Gold and pranking Collin Morikawa at the 72nd hole of The Open Championships amongst his exploits.

He further revealed that upon entering the ground during the second Test, he was jokingly asked by Ravindra Jadeja about which end he would prefer bowling from. On being confronted by security personnel, he resisted and pointed towards the logo on his Team India jersey, gesturing himself to be the 12th man and a part of the visiting team.

While Jarvo’s antics have been entertaining for fans and spectators viewing the proceedings, his back-to-back intrusion raises questions over the security management at the English venues.

Meanwhile, there has been no confirmation whether the Indian team filed an official complaint regarding the matter.
