ENG vs IND: BCCI confirms Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav as replacements
The BCCI has confirmed the injuries and replacements for the Indian Test squad in England. Suryakumar Yadav has received his maiden Test call-up. He and opening batsman Prithvi Shaw will be flying to England as replacements sought by the team management after three players were ruled out due to injury.
According to the media statement released by BCCI, Washington Sundar had taken an injection on his right-hand bowling finger. However, his recovery will take longer than expected thus he has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour.
Fast bowler Avesh Khan suffered a blow to his left thumb on Day 1 of the warm-up game. It resulted in a fracture and he has also been ruled out of India’s Tour of England. Opening batsman Shubman Gill sustained a shin injury during the World Test Championship final. He has already returned home.
The statement further confirmed that bowling coach B. Arun, Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and standby opener Abhimanyu Easwaran have completed their self-isolation in London and have now joined Team India in Durham.
